Uzbekistan investigates rape of 5-year-old girl at Namangan kindergarten

What happened
The incident occurred at a state kindergarten in Uchkurgan district, Namangan region. The investigative unit of the Uchkurgan District Police Department opened a criminal case on September 12 under Part 4 of Article 118 of the Criminal Code. The suspect, 52-year-old caretaker (according to other reports, warehouse manager) K. M., was detained the same day and later remanded in custody. The Prosecutor General's Office said that Prosecutor General Nigmatilla Yuldashev personally took control of the investigation, the case has been transferred to the Namangan regional prosecutor's office, and investigative actions are underway.
The Children's Ombudsman submitted a motion to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education. The Ministry is required to report within 15 days.
