On September 13, Russian forces struck a truck near the Ukrainian-Polish border, about 800 meters from Polish territory near the Dorohusk–Yahodyn crossing. After the attack, the border crossing's operations were temporarily suspended, but traffic later resumed. Russia's Ministry of Defense stated that the target was infrastructure used to transport military cargo from Europe to western regions of Ukraine.
On September 12, the head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, said Ukraine is preparing for a new round of trilateral peace talks with the United States and Russia in October. He confirmed the trilateral format but declined to comment on the possible venue. The Kremlin has not yet said whether Putin will attend.
According to Bloomberg, Putin has again postponed the deadline for fully seizing Donetsk Oblast, now expecting control within the next six months — by the end of February. One of the publication's sources relayed Putin's words: "They will hang me."
