Kazakhstan awards evacuation heroes amid Middle East airspace closure
Kazakhstan honored aviation industry participants involved in the February evacuation from the Middle East. The ceremony recognized their significant contributions amid regional airspace closures. Awards were presented to airline staff, government officials, and rescue services.
Award Ceremony
The award ceremony took place today, recognizing the efforts of those involved in the evacuation of Kazakh citizens from the Middle East in February. The closure of airspace in the region prompted the operation, which saw 66 flights return 10,275 citizens to Kazakhstan. Air Astana, SCAT, FlyDubai, and Air Arabia were among the airlines involved, with flights arriving in cities such as Almaty and Astana.
Recipients of Honors
Awards were distributed to a range of participants, including Air Astana's Talgat Akhmetov and Oleg Kolesnikov, who received the 'Құрмет' Order. Medals for 'Ерен еңбегі үшін' were awarded to SCAT crew members such as Anuar Boranbayev and Mukhtar Iskandarov. The 'Шапағат' medal was given to Alibek Almabekov from the Qazaqstan Business Council in Dubai. The awards were presented by First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar on behalf of the President.
