Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) has introduced 24 new locomotives in the first quarter of 2026. These locomotives are already operational across various regions. The update comes as KTZ continues its fleet modernization efforts.

Locomotive Distribution

The new locomotives include mainline diesel engines from Wabtec and CRRC, as well as Alstom electric locomotives and shunting locomotives. These have been distributed to depots in Astana, Karaganda, Zhetygen, Atyrau, and Mangystau. Each region has begun integrating these units into their operations, enhancing regional rail capabilities.
