Israel launches strikes on Lebanon, over 250 killed amid Hezbollah conflict

Israel conducted extensive airstrikes on Lebanon, resulting in over 250 deaths, according to Reuters. The strikes targeted Hezbollah military sites and civilian areas, causing significant casualties. Hezbollah responded with rocket fire, citing ceasefire violations by Israel.
The Airstrikes
Israel launched its most intense airstrikes on Lebanon since March, targeting over 100 Hezbollah command centers and military sites in Beirut, Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon. The strikes resulted in over 250 deaths, with the highest casualties in Beirut where 91 people were killed. Despite prior warnings issued for some areas, central Beirut received no such alerts before being hit.
Infrastructure and Civilian Impact
Israeli forces destroyed the last remaining bridge connecting southern Lebanon to the rest of the country, effectively isolating the region south of the Litani River. The strikes also targeted hospitals and power stations, exacerbating shortages of food and medicine for thousands of civilians. Over 1.2 million people have been displaced, according to Lebanese civil defense reports.
What's Next
The UN Security Council is set to discuss the escalating conflict. It remains unclear if diplomatic efforts will lead to a new ceasefire.
